Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the Domain Checker at domain-checker.snapstatic.io ("the Service") handles your data. The Service is operated by SnapStatic.

1. Data We Collect

We never store the domain name you type. To check availability the name must be sent to domain-lookup services, but it is used only to answer your query and is not logged or retained by us:

• Default TLDs (.com, .net, .org, .io) — checked directly from your browser using Cloudflare's public DNS-over-HTTPS resolver (cloudflare-dns.com). The name you type goes to Cloudflare DNS as part of a standard DNS query; see Cloudflare's resolver privacy policy.
• Philippine TLDs (.ph, .com.ph, .net.ph, .org.ph) — only when you opt in via the toggle. The selected names are sent to our own Cloudflare Pages Function, which queries the .ph registry's WHOIS service (whois.dot.ph) and returns the result. We do not store the names; results are briefly cached at the edge (keyed by domain) to reduce load on the registry.

Anti-abuse and infrastructure:

• Cloudflare Turnstile — the WHOIS function is gated by an invisible Turnstile challenge to block bots. Turnstile is privacy-preserving and does not track users across sites. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
• Rate limiting — the function counts requests per IP address in a short-lived Cloudflare KV store (about 5 minutes) purely to prevent abuse. These counters expire automatically and are not used to identify or profile you.
• Cloudflare — provides hosting and edge delivery, and collects standard, aggregated edge analytics (page views, country, browser type) as part of its CDN service.
• Umami analytics — self-hosted, cookieless, anonymous, aggregate usage data. For domain checks we record only the TLD label (e.g. that a .com was checked) and the available/taken ratio — never the name you typed.

Data we do NOT collect:

• No accounts, email addresses, or names
• No payment information (this Service is entirely free)
• No storage of the domain names you check
• No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies
• No third-party analytics scripts (no Google Analytics, no tracking pixels)

2. Local Storage

The Service stores the following in your browser:

• dc.phToggle (localStorage) — remembers whether you enabled the Philippine-TLD check, so it persists across visits.
• dc.r.* (sessionStorage) — caches your recent results for ~10 minutes so re-checking the same name in the same tab doesn't fire new lookups. Cleared when you close the tab.
• ss_upsell_dismissed (localStorage) — remembers that you dismissed the "try SnapStatic" prompt.

No tracking cookies are set by the Service itself. You can clear browser storage at any time through your browser settings.

3. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the right to:

• Access — request what data we hold about you
• Deletion — request deletion of any data associated with you
• Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
• Portability — request your data in a portable format
• Object — object to data processing
• Complaint — lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

Since this Service requires no account and does not store the names you check, most of these rights are satisfied by design. For any requests, contact contact@snapstatic.io.

4. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.

5. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy by posting the revised version on this page with an updated date. Material changes will be noted at the top of the page.
